Below are the top five dominant traits that best characterize my leadership style. Agnes Scott’s SUMMIT Curriculum prepares students to be an effective change agent in a global society. In order to do so, Scotties must understand how they lead and, subsequently, tap into their leadership strengths to be a transformational change agent in their field.

ACHIEVER. I take great satisfaction from being busy and productive. I have a relentless need for achievement, and I am energized by the need to complete tasks. This is the power supply that causes me to set the pace and define the levels of productivity for my work group.

LEARNER. I have a great desire to learn and want to continuously improve. In particular, the process of learning, rather than the outcome, excites me. I am energized by the steady and deliberate journey from ignorance to competence. The thrill of the first few facts, the early efforts to recite or practice what I have learned, the growing confidence of a skill mastered – this is the process that entices me.

RESTORATIVE. I love to solve problems. I enjoy the challenge of analyzing the symptoms, identifying what is wrong, and finding the solution. It is a wonderful feeling to identify the undermining factors, eradicate them, and restore something to its true glory.

CONNECTEDNESS. I have faith in the links between all things. I gain confidence in knowing that we are not isolated from one another or from the earth and the life on it. I uphold responsibilities that create my value system: we are all part of a larger picture, thus we must not harm others because we will be harming ourselves. I am certain of the unity of humankind, and I have an internal responsibility of being a bridge builder for others.

FUTURISTIC. I am inspired by the future and what could be. I also aim to inspire others with my visions of the future. A better product, a better team, a better life, a better world will always be inspirational visions that drive my need to be an effective change agent today for a better tomorrow.
